These facets are deemed essential for improving overall efficiency within the Army's logistics operations. To further this effort, a workshop was held from December 13-16 to identify critical roles necessary for successful implementation.

The freight industry has faced significant changes since 2000, with the e-commerce boom affecting the second decade and a pandemic-induced surge in demand followed by a freight recession. Emerging tools are being utilized to optimize operations, focusing on cost-effectiveness and service quality. The Army is committed to leveraging technology-driven innovations for future growth.

Collaboration with academic institutions and non-profit organizations is central to these efforts. The Army is working closely with four universities, including Wichita State University, to focus on parts qualification and machinery compatibility. This collaboration aims to enhance the Army's supply chain ecosystem by updating advanced manufacturing strategies and shortening the time required for part qualification.

One of the key initiatives includes testing 3D-printed parts on Army aircraft, a project conducted in collaboration with Wichita State University.
